Club Penguin : Elite Penguin Force (DS) Review - No Mr. Penguin, I expect you to die!
Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force is based off of Disney's popular kids MMO, Club Penguin. The MMO is about penguins who play games. And are secret agents. Why are so many games about birds with government professions?
The plot is that your penguin, who you can give clothes to and change the color of, is suddenly roped into a government search-and-destroy scheme. A penguin government search-and-destroy scheme. The game is a first person point-and-click, which is hard to pull off. It does manage to hold up enough for kids, however.
There are a handful of "missions" (including a few you can download from Wi-Fi for free) which include rescuing a fellow secret agent who is stuck on the side of a stream, finding a can of oil, and helping a team win a snowboarding game. Nail-biting suspense, isn't it?
Along the way, you'll encounter little balls of hair called "Puffles". These puffles can usually help out in a mission by throwing snowballs, or blowing bubbles, or setting themselves on fire and shooting themselves out of cannons towards almost unbreakable metal. You sure do know how to make a kids game, Disney!
There are also some mini-games. Completing these interesting bite-sizers will give you coins, which you can use to buy clothing for your penguin.
Gameplay - Interesting and funny enough to keep you occupied until the end, with fun mini-games as well. Let's not forget you can also download a few free missions. 8/10
Graphics - Smooth frame rate and silly looking 2D characters make this look excellent, if you like that kind of thing. 9/10
Sound - Most of the music from the website is remixed and it sound amazing. Some of the best sound quality on the DS in my opinion. 10/10
Controls - All touchscreen usually works well for point-and-clicks, and this game is no exception. In a feature I found very thoughtful, Disney put in the option of using the D-pad! 9/10
Random Category! - Coffee - One of the locations you can visit is a coffee shop, so Pass!
Price - About $12.00 (or six two-dollar bills.)
FINAL SCORE - 9.3/10
If you really liked the missions in this game, you can play even more for free on Club Penguin's website.
