Rayman (DSiWare) Review - It's FUN to be limbless!
Oh Rayman, you limbless, wonderful creature you. You've been outcast by your own developer, who now prefers games about screaming bunnies. You deserve better.
Rayman is a port of the very first Rayman game for the Playstation, and is a great port at that. This game has everything from the original, with a few more things to make it worth 800 points.
The Plot is that mean ol' Mr. Dark has put all the Lums in cages, and Rayman wants to put a stop to that, because he likes the Lums for some reason. Now, you may have noticed Rayman doesn't have limbs, which works to a great advantage. You attack by pulling your hands off and throwing them at enemies. Along the way you'll get an upgrade to this power which let's you charge. Lovely.
Rayman has a few changes, though. First of all, the game is zoomed in a bit, which makes it hard to see what's just out of reach. Secondly, you save by going to one of those carnival-like photo booth which takes your picture with the internal camera. Thirdly, the game runs a bit smoother, which makes small children and Internet Video Game reviewers happy.
Gameplay - Platforming at it's very best. 9.5/10
Graphics - Crisp, Clean, 2D goodness. 9/10
Sound - Music covers several genres, from Jazz to Disco. 9/10
Control - Control Pad and Face Buttons make it easy to control, but didn't like the slow response when the screen is crowded. 7/10
Random Category! - Attractiveness - I hate to say it, but Rayman isn't very attractive. The Only female character in the game is Ly the Fairy, and she isn't too appealing either. She looks pretty good in Rayman Origins though, but for now, Fail!
Price - 800 points (or 80 dimes.)
FINAL SCORE - 8.7/10
