Moblie Gaming to Replace System Gaming?

While most gamers may say that they like console games better then Mobile and Social games, there's no denying the incredible sales of such Mobile Games as Angry Birds and Doodle Jump. While modern games may boast that they have "Realistic Graphics" and "Innovative Gameplay", Mobile Games beat these titles in sales by well over $1,000,000. For example, on launch day, Halo 3 ODST, a highly anticipated game, sold 2 million units, while Angry Birds has sold over 10 million units, and that's only the iOS sales figures.

While several Gamers may enjoy the ease and portability of these Mobile Games, they may be hurting the publishers that eased them into the gaming world. Nintendo has suffered a heavy blow, losing 66% of their net profit. Nintendo aren't the only ones suffering, as Sony and Microsoft have also admitted to losing big bucks to the developers of these Mobile Games, such as Rovio.

One of the reasons Mobile Games have become so popular is that they have a greatly reduced price. While you can pick up a copy of Portal 2 for $49.99, Angry Birds, an equally critically acclaimed game can be bought for only $1.99. What do developers say about this? Rovio head Peter Vesterbacka says "I think it's a good sign that people are concerned -- because from my point of view we're doing something right."

So what do you think? Will Mobile Gaming take over? This is a bigger problem then Nintendo vs. Microsoft vs. Sony. This is System Gaming vs. Mobile Gaming, and only one will win. If you support System gaming, buy a copy of Super Mario Galaxy 2, Portal 2, or Call of Duty. If you support mobile gaming, buy Angry Birds or Doodle Jump. Remember, it's you, the customer, who decides the victor.
